Update on Joel Ramos

Joel Ramos – July 2009

Joel Ramos was finally able to return to live at Uncle Dick’s Home in the spring of 2009. His body has continued to respond favorably to the kidney transplant he received several years ago, but he will remain on medications for the rest of his life to keep his body from rejecting the kidney. Joel is a very happy and energetic teenager, and he is so thankful that God provided a new kidney for him. Please pray for his continued health and that his body will continue to accept the transplanted kidney.

on summer break

Joel Ramos currently lives with a private nurse in Davao City, Mindanao. He is attending a private school one day per week and completing the rest of his schoolwork from his residence there. The doctors are very cautious about letting him return to public school, but his body has responded to the transplanted kidney very favorably, thus far, and he is in very good health. He was able to live at Uncle Dick’s Home in March and April for summer break. Doctors have not yet set a date for his permanent return to Uncle Dick’s Home.

Praise the Lord!

Joel's kidney transplant surgery was successful! Through tears, the nurse related this story: "As Joel was waking up from surgery, the nurse noticed he was crying. She asked him if he was in pain, He indicated that he was not and then said, "Thank you God, thank you doctors, thank you nurses for my new kidney!" Please continue to pray for Joel's recovery. At the present time, Joel is secluded and needs around the clock care. He will also require anti-rejection medicine for the rest of his life. Joel Ramos needs your help!

One of our orphans, 14 year-old Joel Ramos, has been seriously ill since the middle of June. Local doctors determined that both kidneys had failed, and he was put on dialysis. The dialysis is keeping him alive, but his only hope for survival is to have a kidney transplant. We have been crying out to God on behalf of this young man! A perfect match for his kidney has been found, but we are trying to raise a total of $20,000 plus, to cover the cost of the transplant and expenses for the first few months following the operation.

Joel Ramos needs your help!

In the last two weeks, God has touched the hearts of many people with the story of this young boy who one day hopes to be a pastor. Please pray with us for God's provision for Joel. Many individuals have already donated, and one church has offered to match gifts up to $7,000. If you would like to contribute to Joel’s expenses, please send your check to BTEA / Joel Ramos. 100% of all your donations will be used for Joel's medical expenses.
